@txels :
Participem LLK i Roberta (Mirlo), Ben (Bandwagon) i jo (Fairplayer).
Pren notes Roberta:
Fairplayer x Bandwagon Chat:
Talking about Fairplayer origins and the idea of multiple places joining a big distribution network but still being able to maintain their own governance, structure and identity - giving musicians choice. Kirsten (the indie beat fm) relocating to Barcelona. Talking about the localised aspect as well as the worldwide music community.
Ben talking about Bandwagon and Emissary (a configurable ActivityPub server that can talk to and interact with other Fediverse apps). Bandwagon can handle concerts and events and geolocation services. Mention of Atlas Maps (atlasmaps.org) which is a recent bit of work from Ben. Talking about The Indie Beat feeding off Bandwagon but keenness for other platforms feeding off Bandwagon and into the Indie Beat as well, such as Mirlo and Fairplayer.
LLK talking about history of Mirlo and the core of the distribution network, a DistroKid but for the non-corporate independent musician community, that “connects pipelines”.
Feedback from Ben and being “discoverable from anywhere”. Ben made a music search engine previously but it hasn’t been aggressively promoted and he’d like someone else to own the search part and to drive Bandwagon towards it instead.
Carles talking about the player being an integral part of discoverability (less friction?) and the indexing. Talking about creating a standard.
Ben talked with Radio Free Fedi and an important aspect was consent on a per-album basis, rather than it being per-site. The Indie Beat pulls the data in this way.
Canimus is a current way of specifying which “content” is shareable and that artists have agreed upon talked about by Carles. Faircamp links differently.
Contributions can take different formats. Ben has offered to make a Canimus feed and opening up things on Bandwagon to other developers with aligned interests. Ben expressed concern about anyone using Canimus being able to scrape info. Carles mentioned Mirlo stuff not being open API, there is a specific key.
How to define consent within the protocol. What uses do people allow for with their music and for listeners? Example given is the “maximum free plays” system on Mirlo. Mention of how something like resharing might work once shared to Fairplayer? Would it be the main instance of Fairplayer or any?
LLK’s statement from the video chat on Mastodon (from Mirlo’s account?) about capitalist decentralisation?
“What community does my music go to?” and continuing to respect that.
Ben to implement Canimus.
Keeping the group small and focused to begin with and not getting bogged down in conceptual stuff too early. Possibly starting on Discord.
En resum, trobada molt positiva, el Ben molt maco i disposat a fer la seva part de feina. De moment ens estem començant a coordinar al discord que comparteixen Mirlo amb Jam.coop.
